GETTING THE WORD OUT THERE!

After the setback and disappointment of the visa denial, Jaclyn and Autumn are not giving up on helping Louvenet!  Jaclyn wrote the heart felt letter, posted in the previous entry, and has sent it out to multiple media outlets.
The first to respond was the Everett Herald.  An excellent article was published in the Saturday, Jan. 8th edition.  It was on the front page!!!  To view the article go to http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20110108/NEWS01/701089934/1122.
The second to respond was King5.  They came up to Marysville and had an in depth interview with both Jaclyn and Autumn.  It should air tonight, January 8th, at 10pm and 11pm.  Good thing for DVR's....I don't stay up that late!!
I know that Oprah and CNN have been contacted too.

  1. Your pious attempts to send this young man to a private christian school in the U.S. seem illogical & financially foolish. Why not save that exorbitant tuition and send the boy to a public school in Marysville? Think of the good you could do with the left over money for his friends and family in Haiti.

  2. We had the same thoughts that you did when we first began this project. We wanted to offer Lou the opportunity of a solid education, yet we wanted the education and cost to balance out. So we initially tried to enroll him in a public school. What we quickly learned was that the visa is written so that a high school must either be private, or, he could attend a public school if we paid the fees/tuition, books, and additional monies which US citizens do not pay as the school is publically subsidized. So essentially we pay what the government and grants pay behind the scenes for the public school route. When we looked at it, we could not locate a public school that is on SEVIS, which is a requirement for the visa. So we began searching private schools and even community colleges. It did not take long for us to choose Grace Academy because of its location, size, Christian principles, which are of great import to Lou, and the fact that they have a nice mix of cultures, ethnicities and exchange students.
Please let us know if you have more questions.
